Michigan IRL

Decent crowd, decent race, some squirrelly driving by the likes of Matsuura and the AGR guys. The racing, sometimes seemed too close and with carbon fiber tubs at 220 mph, you can't play around.

Herta Rises Above at Michigan
Written by: Jeff Olson

Twice before while leading on restarts, Bryan Herta got “swarmed” and lost several positions. Another time, as he led the field to green, his restart was waved off and he was told by IRL officials that if he jumped again, he’d go to the back of the field.
When it counted the most, though, Herta was faultless on a restart.

Herta held his ground Sunday after a restart with seven laps remaining, outlasting a challenge by teammate Tony Kanaan, another by teammate Dan Wheldon and yet another by Tomas Scheckter to win the Firestone Indy 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

Rest on Speed here.
